Read 1 Peter 1:3-7
3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4. To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5. Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
7. That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ
*MEMORISE: Who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time (1 Peter 1:5)

The commonest items in our mass media, newspapers, radio and television, etc., these days, is report of mass killings of innocent people by terrorists and religious fundamentalists, and kidnapping for ransom. Attacks on Churches by blood-thirsty gunmen, are also rampant. Although, the terrorist attacks seem to be general, it has been lopsided on Christians. Today, it is not easy being a Christian in Nigeria and in some other places, globally. Yet, we must find ways to live our faith without compromise.
Peter presents us with the anchor that holds during the storms of life. That anchor is our faith. Faith in who? In our Lord Jesus Christ. *Who are kept by the power of God through faith…* He gave us three truths concerning the security of believers during the storms of life:
Believers are kept/protected against all the forces of evil that are against their lives (2 Tim. 4:18; 1 Pet. 1:3)
The essential condition required for God’s protection is faith. God’s keeping of us by His grace does not work arbitrarily, for only through faith are believers protected, by the power of God (Col. 1:23).
The ultimate goal of God’s protection through the believer’s faith is salvation, which is *“the obtaining of an inheritance in heaven and salvation of your souls” (1 Pet. 1:8-9).*
We must rejoice in our various trials, because remaining faithful to Christ in the midst of trials will purify our faith. This also results in praise, glory and honour, immediately and ultimately; to the Lord Jesus at His coming (1 Pet. 1:7), as well as blessings to us, now and in eternity.

1. Lord, uphold me with Your power, through faith, during storms of life.
2. Lord Jesus, please uphold all Christians in the troubled areas of our nation, with Your power for salvation.
3. Father, give all Christians and our leaders in the these nation the power to remain faithful to You in trying times.
