TONIC FOR 24TH JUNE, 2021. TOPIC:- WHEN THANKS ALONE WILL DO.TEXT:- I CHRONICLES 16:7-36.MEMORY VERSE:- 1 Chronicles 16:29, "Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness." MESSAGE:- The man David was a man after God's heart because He understood the power and place of praise. In today's text, the Ark had returned to it's rightful place among the people of Israel. Not content with dancing his way into the presence of the Lord; in the preceding chapter, David appointed some Levites and praise singers to lift up praise and worship to the King of kings, whilst making sacrifices to the Lord. That Psalms of thanks not only acknowledged God for who He is; it also remembered the numerous miracles that God had done amongst them. It reminded God of the covenant He entered into with Abraham and thanked Him for His faithfulness in honouring it.If God enjoyed the heartfelt thanksgiving and praise worship of His people back then, has He changed since then to no longer desire it? We always declare in line with the scriptures that our God is the same yesterday, today and forever. So what stops us from giving Him the praise that is due to His name? Would it be right to cheat God of the one thing we can earnestly give Him and which satisfies His need for fellowship? WORD FOR THOUGHT:- Only praise can lift Him (God) higher.
