_It is advisable that you prayerfully and meditatively read the text first_  *DON'T BE A BUSYBODY* *TEXT:* PSALMS 52:1-9._*KEY VERSE* "Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually" (PSALMS 52:1)._  The term "busybody" usually refers to one focusing on the matters of others but looks little to his own issues. Busybodies also tend to look especially on the faults and troubles of other folks. They hardly focus on good news related to other people, but more often, it is issues about the scurrilous that occupy their minds. David was reacting to the action of Doeg the Edomite, who had gone to Saul and told him that David had gone to the house of Abimelech. The Psalm is a contrast between the righteous and wicked, revealing the frustration the righteous have toward the wicked and their ungodly ways. The psalmist challenged the arrogant wicked tyrant who boasted in his wickedness. He ended by saying that when the righteous see how God has destroyed the wicked out of the land of the living, they will fear lest they turn from the will of God. And the righteous will declare the goodness of God because He has rendered judgment on the wicked. There are those who pick stones for the enemy against the innocent for the sake of the gain they can make out of that betrayal. Treachery and backstabbing are terrible sins that must not be courted by any believer. Those who cherish them end up disastrously. God is not mocked; every man must reap the fruit of whatever he sows. There are those who delight in meddling in other people's matters. Many have lost their lives by what they heard in their busybody mission. Had they kept their distance, shut their mouth or closed their eyes, they could have saved themselves. It is sad that men hardly learn from what happens to other people. *THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* Lord, make me to see the good in others.  *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR* 2 SAMUEL 1-2. *MEDITATION* Beware of the "righteous-wicked" *1. The story behind the psalm* a. Doeg, a servant of Saul, was a mighty man politically being his chief Herdman, I Samuel 21:7.b. He came to seek the face of God in God's house where David also met him when he was running away for his life from the murderous and powerful Saul, I Samuel 21:1,4,5.c. He appeared to be innocently righteous and quiet as he watched the High priest innocently gave the sword of Goliath to David, its rightful owner, I Samuel 21:9,10.d. He leaked this secret to Saul the king so as to please the king and get favour from from him, being a gentile. It resulted into the death of 85 priests and the destruction of the city of the priests called Nob, I Samuel 22:9,18.d. Can you think of a betrayal of an innocent person like David right by the person he met in house of God? Can you think of a seeker of God who decides to leak secret in order to please and gain favour from someone (Saul) when he knows fully well that it is dangerous? Can you think of costly gossip in the house of God? Can you think of maliciously speaking about another person in the house of God when it does not concern him? That is a "righteous - wicked" for youe. Check Psalm 52:1-4 and ponder on the other traits of the "rightous wicked". *Questions*  i. Can you recall other examples of the "righteous-wicked" that betrayed their fellow brothers into the hand of the wicked in the Bible?ii. Are you totally free from such lifestyle? Psalms 52:1,2.iii. How did David himself behaved without wisdom in dealing with this "righteous- wicked?" Couldn't he have approached the priest with wisdom without the knowledge of this "rightous-wicked"? What a lesson for the rightous! "Wisdom is the principal thing" "Be wise as serpents but harmless like doves". *2 The Saviour from wilful principalities* a. Read 52:5-7 and see the fate of the "rightous-wicked" who refused to repent and make needed restitution.b. Psalm 52:8,9 shows the right attitude of the righteous who are at the receiving end. Never allow disappointments and betrayals make you loose bitter and lose your virtuec. God will always deliver the righteous from the "righteous- wicked" who put their trust in Him because "the goodness of God endures continually", v1. *HYMN* Search me O God. (GHS 177)
