_It is advisable that you prayerfully and meditatively read the text first_  *COLLECTIVE GUILT* *TEXT:* EXODUS 2:23-25; 3:1-10._*KEY VERSE* "Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them" (EXODUS 3:9)._  It is estimated that about six million Jews died in the concentration camps set up by the German Nazis during World War II. After the War, the British and the US occupation forces printed posters depicting the horrors of the concentration camps with slogans such as "These Atrocities: Your fault!" (referring to the entire German people). From our text, the Hebrews, completely dominated by the Egyptians, were left with no option than to cry out to God for justice. God mercifully responded by calling His servant Moses, through a vision of a burning bush, to become His messenger for Israel's liberation. The Lord told him that He was aware of all that was done against His chosen nation and was, therefore, coming down to deliver them. Like in Nazi Germany during the inglorious holocaust, the ordinary Egyptians looked on and even participated when the Hebrews were being murdered and oppressed. It would be difficult for them to blame all the killing of infants and the enslavement of the Jews on the government of the day alone. Many Egyptians owned Hebrew slaves and were partners in crime with the regime of Pharaoh. Oppression of minorities, religious violence, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and mass killings take place in many countries of the world. Mass graves and chilling documentaries and monuments are there to prove our collective guilt. We can speak out and present the matter before the Lord in prayer. We must not keep silent while the ruthlessness of men sends people to eternity unprepared. *✍THOUGHT FOR THE DAY* God will not hold us guiltless if we fail to stand in the gap for the oppressed.  *BIBLE IN ONE YEAR* JOHN 19-21. Play your part please *1. Roll call of the guilty Egyptians*a. Pharaoh. A maximum ruler, used his power to brutally oppress and afflict the Israelites despite the fact that it was the Israelites, through Joseph, who saved Egypt from near extinction, 2:23, 3:10.b. The close relations of the despot. Unlike Pilate's wife, there is no record that any of his relations warned or advised him to stop dealing with the Israelites wickedly.c. Pharaoh's advisers. All of them valued their positions more than the fear of God. All kept sealed lips in the midst of terror.d. The magicians and mysteriously powerful people. All the atrocities of Pharaoh did not concern them until God's power was too much for them when they said, "this is the finger of God."e. The whole Egyptians. They were all guilt because they all left Pharaoh to do all his wickedness with heavy casualties on both sides; yet they kept quiet. No record of any action to make Pharaoh have a rethink.*Q* Who are the other guilty groups in Egypt?Their silence, stupidity, sadism, selfishness and senselessness against the people of God was too costly to describe or imagine. None escaped. Egypt never fully recover till now.*2. Responsibility of Christians in a godless environment*a. God expect each Christian, using their status in the society, to be actively engaged in what will better the society as "light" and "salt". b. Living a shinning life, Intercession, persuading the wicked and the sinful to repent, preaching of righteousness without fear or favour, using social media to propagate righteousness and condemn evils, responding to evil philosophies and writings with the truth of the word etc can be deployed by a true child of God, Acts 26:9, Matthew 5:13-16, I Timothy 2:1.*Q* What selfless activities are you involved in to stop or reduce the tide of wickedness in your nation or community?Inactivity and silence in the midst of darkness is tantamount to wickedness *Prayer points*Ask for forgiveness for not doing enough to fight for righteousness in your nationAsk for the zeal and wisdom to be actively contending for the faith in your nationPray for tired, distracted and exhausted ministers of God that they receive strength and fire to burning for GodAsk God to arrest all the evil rulers in the nation and bring them to subjection  *HYMN* May the Lord depend on you
