verb (used with object)

to hold the attention of pleasantly or agreeably; divert; amuse.
to have as a guest; provide food, lodging, etc., for; show hospitality to.

This is how the Wikipedia defines ENTERTAINMENT;

"Entertainment is a form of activity that HOLDS the ATTENTION and INTEREST of an audience, or gives pleasure and delight."

Notice the words "HOLDS the ATTENTION and INTEREST of an audience". The word "And" there suggests that it does two things at the same time;

1. it gets their ATTENTION and INTEREST.
Question (a) : When a worship Leader comes on stage does he or she get your attention?

Question (b) : Does he also get your interest which is to worship at the time?

Question (c) : When the worship leader sings terribly or the band play terribly, don't you lose both attention and interest?

Going further with the definition above you see the last half, "OR gives PLEASURE or DELIGHT". The word "Or" shows option and alternative, it can be replaced with the word "either"

Question (a) : Are you delighted when the worship or when praise is on-going?

Question (b) : Do you find the pleasure in worship?

PLEASURE is defined as a feeling of happy satisfaction and enjoyment.

C) do we get a feeling of happy satisfaction in worship or praise? Is there anything wrong with that?

Finally following all I have stated, is there anything wrong with the word ENTERTAINMENT in church?

Through the act of entertainment as an artiste or singer we can now minister.

Can we go further with this study?

1. Who is a minister?
2. What does a minister do
3. What does ministration mean
4. What is ministry.

Every definition will be taken from Wikipedia .

1. Who is a minister : In Christianity, a minister is someone who is authorized by a church, or other religious organization, to perform functions such as teaching of beliefs; leading services such as weddings, baptisms or funerals; or otherwise providing spiritual guidance to the community.

2. What does a minister do?

By the definition of who a minister is, we see that a minister basically does anything the church authorises him to do and by extension God.

4. In Christianity, ministry is an activity carried out by Christians to express or spread their faith, the prototype being the Great Commission.

Notice I didn't put an answer to 3 above. That is a special case.

Is there a religious ENGLISH definition to words? Are we assuming words or creating an imagination to suit our claim.? Let us take a further look,

3 . What does Ministration mean?

ministration; plural noun: ministrations.

a) the provision of assistance or care.
"a kitchen made spotless by the ministrations of a cleaning lady"

synonyms: attention, treatment, help, assistance, aid, care, services, succour, relief, support
"her mother's anxious ministrations"

the services of a minister of religion or of a religious institution.
"the ministrations of Father Martin"
the action of administering the sacrament.
"the celebration and ministration of the sacraments"

You can look up other dictionaries. We see clearly that the word Ministration simply means "HELP" or "ASSISTANCE".

Every time you reach out to people with the word of God or music, all you are doing g is bringing the HELP or ASSISTANCE. In management and business term we are in the responsibility of CUSTOMER SERVICE not all those imaginations we have that keep us lofty when we describe our "assumption of ministration"

This misconception we have is in assuming words and this is a pointer to the quality of our education or lack of it.

I think the world is advancing and Africa should move ahead and stop the debate and assumption on words that already have meaning .

We clearly see that every Gospel artiste or singer has the responsibility to both ENTERTAIN and MINISTER as they both work hand in hand.
